This year in Global Studies, students will examine the physical, political, social/cultural, and economic characteristics of the major regions of the world today and insightfully demonstrate a critical understanding of global relationships and the benefits of global awareness and cooperation. Students will learn from individuals and groups who represent diverse cultures, beliefs, and ways of life and recognize both similarities and differences when comparing these cultures to their own. Students will independently recognize bias in the study of culture and accurately identify perspectives in cultural studies and global issues. Students will acquire advanced skills in critically reading and analyzing nonfiction and primary sources, as well as maps, charts, graphs, and political cartoons. Students will utilize evidence from reliable sources to effectively communicate, both in writing and orally, their own opinions on complex global issues supported by relevant, accurate, and persuasive evidence.
